Charlies Britton, southern gentleman and high powered attorney While the book is a stand alone title, Tess and Charles s story is much richer if you read book one Protection for Hire first The fast paced scenes and sharp dialogue kept me turning the pages and when I was forced to put it down I anticipated picking it up again The book begins in high gear, with Tess and a client of the run from the client s abusive ex boyfriend Tess is just as quick at thinking on her feet as she is at sparing with the bad guys The heart pounding chase ends with Tessa asking a favor of her family, who she s had a very tentative relationship with since become a Christian and severing ties with the family run yukuza.Family isn t the only part of her past Tessa must face A case throws her together with the man who extended her jail sentence the man who she thought she might be falling in love with But a year after finding out about Charles Britton s betrayal, Tess is still deeply angry and hurt As the two are entangled together in case that involves keeping a teenager alive, they must confront their painful past. The case is very intriguing George a contestant on a reality singing show withtroubles than possibly being voted off when his teenage daughter computer whiz Hannah hacks her way into the middle of a gambling syndicate betting on the show With an unknown number of the show s producers involved, Tess and her charges must stay on the show to stay alive. The spiritual plot is subtle yet distinct as Tess s rough edges continue to be softened as she grows in Christ Charles s own faith is stretched as he must find the courage to articulate his beliefs and then weigh the cost of sharing Christ with his coworkers and friends. The secondary characters including Vivian, Charles s wise fusion cooking Southern belle Mama, add depth to the story I was excited to see Uncle Teuro make another appearance He and Tessa come to a very sweet understanding. The book alternates between spicy action, serious spiritual reflection, complicated romance, exasperating family drama, and laugh out loud levity The book is light on the romance and heavy on action but after reading other reviews I ll add a disclaimer that a couple of scenes containthan hand holding Though it didn t seem inappropriate to me Nor did the other scene a few people have complained about Tang s own Japanese heritage lends authenticity to the book and is reflected in the tasty dishes mentioned I was hungry after reading this book I gave the book four stars because the case seemed to peeter out at the end I had to go back and read who a few of the bad guys were I wish this had been fleshed out a bit.Fans of Robert B Parker s Spenser and Sunny Randall books, will love the Protection for Hire series.Tess s estranged father makes a cameo through a shadowy email This plot line is unresolved by book s end and left me hoping for another title in the series Another incredible ride from Camy Tang Just when I think meh, this ll be just a good easy read distraction from the day to day I was blown away, again Started it after church, and with the exception of eating, bathroom breaks where admittedly the book came along , and a little facebook distraction finished it up in one fell swoop Kicking off with an action packed sequence that had my heart racing Throwing in growing character development with folks the least I was highly entertained, clearly enthralled, and even challenged to think out some of my own struggles that compare to the various characters. All of this is what makes her books rank among two years longer, and not allow her to attend her favorite aunts funeral When she finds her clients in need of Charles lawyer expertise she knows that there are going to be awkward days ahead She is determined to fuel her ire towards Charles even when feelings of attraction arise between them. When Tessa s past once again threatens to cross with her present she must be careful with both the FBI now investigating the case and her yakuza uncle who just may be in the thick of the talent show rigging. You know a book is going to be good when it starts out with an awesome car chase and a woman kicking some bad guy butt This is the second book in the Protection For Hire series and it was just as exciting and nail biting as the first one There was also humor intertwined throughout the story and one laugh out loud knee slapping moment that still has me chuckling A Dangerous Stage also delves into the characters spiritual feelings Charles struggles with his need to share about his faith and Tessa struggles with her need to forgive Both make Camy Tang s characters seemtrue to life I m looking forward to the next book in The Protection for Hire series I m thinking Tessa has some serious unresolved childhood issues that are going to rear up in the next book Can t wait A Dangerous Stage by Camy TangProtection For Hire Book 2Tessa Lancaster has avoided Charles Britton for a full right Tessa is still a fairly new Christian and struggles with things like forgiveness She has come a long ways from her old life but is still on her way to becoming a new creation and letting go of the old Charles has some situations in his life that have him looking at his own walk with Christ I started reading and couldn t put the book down Camy Tang gives the reader a story filled with adventure and suspense And humor as well Looking forward to the next book in this series.http justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com Tessa Lancaster worked for her uncle in the Japanese mafia until she was sent to prison for a murder she didn t commit Now, after finding God behind bars, she takes odd jobs as a bodyguard to keep her distance from the family businessIn A Dangerous Stage, the second book in Camy Tang s Protection for Hire series, Tessa gets caught up in the web of lies surrounding a shady singing competition Hired by one of the contestants, she works with Charles Britton the lawyer who sent her to prison to discover the dark figures manipulating the contest from behind the scenesTessa s abilities will be tested like never before as she s forced to balance the safety of her client s family and her deepening relationship with Charles In the midst of the chaos, she holds on to her faith to keep her safe and bring down the shadowy organization My thoughts on this are pretty much as conflicted as its predecessor. The characterization, story, romance, cultural elements are all pretty poorly done, except that the line running through re these character s faith not only rang true but was personally convicting ike I identified so much with the things Tessa and Charles were struggling with re each of their personal faith.ANYWAY, I will try to come back and write a proper review.edited to fix its to proper form I like Tessa Life is a mess, and she tries to make the best of it. Protection for Hire by Camy, you ll want to start there It s another awesome book Tessa is in the bodyguard business and she is awesome at it Her unique background helps her defend the people who hire her The chemistry between her and Charles is electric I enjoy the way that Camy develops their relationship Tessa is wounded by Charles and he is unable to see how much they mean to each other Tessa is so strong and put together but we also get to see her softer side, the side that can be injured Brought together by a mutual client, Tessa and Charles are forced to interact and the sparks fly Yay sparks This is an action packed ride I didn t want to put it down, even for sleep and I like sleep The first scene has Tessa in a car chase and kicking butt Camy keep the action coming and the characters are so engaging that you can t help but get sucked into their world I laughed at the humorous interactions, felt wounded for Tessa and Charles and even felt my adrenalin spike as Tessa dealt with the danger around them Whoo, what a ride Camy has a wonderful way of writing that is just hers I wasn t far into A Dangerous Stage when I paused and thought I feel like I am sitting with Camy, over a cup of tea, and she is telling me this story in her own words She has a unique way of making her voice shine out of the pages I ve never met Camy, nor talked to her on the phone, but I could hear her voice in the book and loved it evenbecause of it Like hearing a thrilling story from a good friend If you enjoy a fast paced story with wonderfully developed characters, this book is for you If you enjoy a good romance with twists and turns, this book is for you Camy s tagline is Romance with a kick of wasabi and she sure does deliver Bring on the Wasabi Thanks for the great ride late I ve been looking forward to reading A Dangerous Stage ever since I finished reading the first book, Protection for Hire I have read all of Camy Tang s books Her characters are so real and relevant I loved getting sucked into Tessa s fast paced world filled with paranoia and Japanese yakuza Tang writes with an authenticity that is contagious and leaves you wantingShe is especially good at weaving in updated references to movie or television characters, which made me smile.Tessa s character must learn to forgive in order to move on in her life as a Christian The reader can relate with the way that Tessa struggles with anger and bitterness She feels betrayed and doesn t want to forgive but in the end, she realizes what isimportant It was interesting reading about how her relationship with her father was influencing her relationship with Charles.I highly recommend this book and series for anyone who enjoys a good mystery suspense with some Christian values and romance thrown in You won t regret this read I read it in less than a day Now, I can t wait for the next book to come out I received this book free from the author as a contest giveaway and from NetGalley but was not required to write a positive review The second book in the Protection for Hire series is an explosive title filled with thrilling car chases, up close and personal hostage situations and good gave up the ghost well I admit I was a bit sad to see that car of a character bite the exhaust pipe Point of my telling you that There is some fun situational humor mixed into the book which definitely gives it a rare, unique flavor Things I would have likedof A bitromance And a stronger story line about Tessa s dad But I have a feeling the latter might be coming in another title and there was plenty going on in Tessa emotionally to be adding anything else Fun title Would definitely recommend that you read the first Protection for Hire before picking up this one Both are fun, light and snappy good combinations for a contemporary novel This review is my honest opinion Thanks to the publishers for my copy to review A Dangerous Stage
